Happy Sunday!!
I wanted to show you a little book I made using the lovely Ska‘ vi ta en collection. I love making books and like to use recycled cardboard boxes for the covers. This book is stitched on the spine and has a canvas wrap.
I kept the design very ‘quiet’ so the soft purple roses would stand out on the cover and once you open the book.
My favourite part of the book is this part:
The spoon!!!
This album (or rather a slightly modified version of it) will be taught as a part of a scrapevent in Uddevalla that Maja Design is sponsoring. A very very big thank you to Creativica and Karin for this opportunity. My sweet friend Karin will be teaching the class and I hope everyone will enjoy making the book from scratch.
The link to the event’s blog is: http://creativica.wordpress.com/scrapevent-uddevalla/ if you’d like more information.
Thanks for looking!
Cute cardboard book, and beautiful papers. But I don’t understand how the spoon ties in. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Rea!
I’ll tell you a secret! I didn’t like the colour of the string I used for stitching the spine, so I inserted the spoon into the binding to cover it up and I ended up liking how it looked! heh heh. I only wish it was an antique spoon…
How did you stitch the binding? I love the spoon definitely adds character! I love this mini album!
Hi Janna! I used long stitch and stitched the pages to the central canvas ‘sash’ in the middle. Its kind of hard to explain in words…but I hope that helps.
I need to try making something similar I love it so much thanks!
Looking forward to this class at our Event in Uddevalla in April – thank you sooo much, Sharon!
