Deep in Thought -featuring the Antligen Collection

Happy Friday. Jennifer Snyder here sharing my work on a Friday. This piece uses the summery Antligen Collection. Summer is such a short and cherished time for many of us who live in places that get snow. brrrr. For now, I shall celebrate some melting of the snow by pulling out Antligen.

This is a photo I snapped of my niece a few years ago. It’s summery and dreamy feeling like the collection. My niece is a beautiful young lady so I wanted to surround her in feminine softness.

I used a few different pieces from the collection. Featured here are the following: Antligen – Naturen Doftar (as my delicate background piece) , Pingst (as the accent strips of paper), and Vardagjamning (as the circle).

From there, I embellished with masks and molding pastes and gesso.

Here you can see that I sort of slapped molding paste on my page to frost the flowers. The image below is also a great close up of my masking with molding paste. You can get a better feel for how delicate this page is in real life.

I tucked a few small pieces of an old book here and there. The book is from 1895 – very old. The pages are yellowed already with no distressing. Time did that for me.

This is gift for my sister. She can gaze upon it when she misses her baby girl who will be setting off for University in August.

June Mood Board

Our June Mood Board is about the early summer with it’s blossoming flowers and blue skies. Based on the gorgeous Äntligen collection, this is the perfect opportunity to finally scrap your graduation and speechday photos. June-Mood-board

We are using mood boards for our challenges. We truely believe in creativity and art at Maja Design. You are free to interpret the mood boards in any way you’d like. They are supposed to set you in an inspirational mood without too much controlling. We would like you to be inspired by the poems, words and photos. They are not given rules, they are just there as inspiration. They are all inspired by a Maja collection, but you are free to use any Maja papers you’d like as long as they follow the colour scheme. We highly encourage you to follow the theme of the mood board as well.

We are presenting a new mood board the first Tuesday of every month. We will be presenting all participating creations that fulfill the requirements below June 25th. We will also draw a winner who will be winning a Maja Design collection of their own choice in 6×6 or 12×12.

After your creation is done, take a photo and send it to moodboard@majadesign.nu without any watermarks (size 600×600). Include your full name and address in the e-mail together with what collection you would like if you win. Don’t forget to write down if you would like 6×6 or 12×12. We need your creation June 23rd at the latest.

We will only publish creations that fullfill the requirements!

Hi all! I have been playing with the Äntligen collection. It has some lovely yellow and purple papers. I made a page about family because it means so much to me. And I just don’t mean my husband and my children, but also my sisters and their families.

As you can see the papers are perfect for layering. I have added a punched white border. To make the alpha stickers fit on top of the chipboard window, I put it on a piece of transparency.

Here is a close-up of my flowers.

I painted the chipboard window in white gesso and then added some glossy accent on top. And before it dried I sprinkled some micro beads onto it.

Sweet Baby

Hi friends! Today I am celebrating the news of a brand new sweet little girl. We have had such an abundance of little boys in our lives lately, that I have been busily making new baby cards..All in boy themes.

I had to dig out my stash and create something different this time around, and it was so fun. I really love girly cards, because I can get carried away with lots of feminine details and plenty of glitter, sparkles, lace and cute, tiny, hearts.

I think the Maja Design papers used here are just the perfect baby card colors and it was so much fun dressing them up for this card!

I used a mix of Vintage Summer Basics (#1911) and Life in The Country (In the Hammock).

For the background, I used a paper from the Antligen collection (Vardagjamning) and added a piece of the lovely gingham print to the bottom. I added a smaller bit of the floral paper, and stitched it to the base of the card. Over that, I layered a die-cut doily, onto which I stamped a motif in kraft ink, as well as a round sentiment in black ink.

The teensy heart is a stamped image which I cut out, and embellished with an even smaller heart which is covered with German glass glitter.

Just above the doily, I added another layered embellishment with die-cut pieces and a strip of lace. At the very top of the card, I used a pretty pearl embellishment from a really old set of Prima pearls. I thought this was just the perfect card to use these little beauties up.

Another layer of lace at the bottom, along with another little heart and sentiment, and voila!

I adore the way these beautiful papers make the card so soft and delicate…Just like little baby girls. I also have to add just how much I love the round sentiment, and how much it makes me think of little girls and how we all once lived in our own fairy tales, and an infinite land of our imaginations…It is something I hope every little girl will hold onto for the rest of their lives.

I Am Here For You

Hi everyone! I have had spring on my mind lately, and so today I share with you a project, inspired by the colors of spring and this beautiful Maja Design Mood Board!

Here is my take on these lovely colors, using some very, very pretty Maja Design papers.

First up, I created a vintage-inspired card with a fresh take using these cheery colors and many layers of lace, and pretty trims.

I adore combining soft colors and plenty of texture, to create my cards. I always find that the textured bits always stand out so much more when paired with soft colors.

To make this card, I started out with a white card base, and layered a die-cut button card, soft lilac lace, as well as this gorgeous, green Maja Design paper (Marzipanbakelse). I stitched the layers to the card base, and then I added a die-cut quarter-foil motif out of this beautiful purple Maja print (Syrenen Blommar), as well as a vintage trim from Maya Road.

To the center of all of these layers, I added a die-cut and stamped heart and circle combo from Papertrey Ink. Two very sweet, and slightly embossed leaves finish this little embellie off perfectly.

Just below the button card layers, I added two white banners and stamped the top layer with a lovely sentiment.

Oh I forgot to mention, before I did any of the above steps, I stamped the background of the card (bottom portion only), using some pretty dots and dashes and soft green and purple inks. To add a bit of dimension to the stamped bits, I adhered left over punch-outs from the die-cuts, as well as a little heart button (which I softly distressed with white paint).

I have to admit, I loved the color combination so much, that I decided to keep creating, so I made a matching gift tag!

I used this green paper from Maja Design as the background.

To the back of the tag, I added a scalloped circle cut from more pretty Maja paper.

Just below that, I stamped and embossed a doily motif in white, and then began with my layers all over again.

First, I added a die-cut circle from this purple Maja paper (onto which I also stamped and embossed), then a tiny little circular row of the pretty Maya Road trim, and to finish it off, a die-cut and stamped circle tag. To that I added a little banner embellishment, and a few liquid pearls.

So easy to create when you have beautiful inspiration like the Maja Mood Board!

Spring Has Come

Hello everyone! I am so happy to announce that winter has gone. Though it is just on calendar , I have been waiting so long for the sun, for fresh colors, for bird songs, that I decided to celebrate and made something that let me feel the spring better.

I have made this Key Holder that I’m going to use in my house. I bought this box several years ago, when I liked to make some decoupage projects. By now I am paper addicted, so it was a good chance to decorate it with beautiful papers and embellishments.

I used Äntligen collection, and as I wanted to add some shabby cozy look I used Naturen Doftar paper. I love these polka dots, they remind me some Province style

Anyway this sheet has some cute swirls that add vintage mood to it, so I just dabbed it slightly with gesso and it coordinates well with white edges of the box.

Gesso works so well with it, as the paper has already been distressed while designed. Moreover I used some left overs there too and you never guess where they are, I covered those borders with gesso too.

Also it was a challenge to place the paper over the door handle, but it is hidden under the paint. Also I covered the inner part of the box with paper strips too.

Heartfelt Thank You

Good Day Maja Fans! Ivana here today, with a little shabby-chic creation! It is my first Maja Design post and I am so excited to be sharing my project with you today!

I don’t know about you, but it wasn’t that long ago that I first learned about Maja Design, at which point I thought to myself “Why is it that I have not heard of this incredible paper company before?!”.

Well, I am certainly glad that I did find out about it, and I am so happy to further spread the word to other Maja newbies, because I am telling you, this paper is incredible, and deserves to be known world-wide!

All of the beautiful colors and designs blend so nicely together, and for a shabby/vintage gal like myself, I couldn’t have found a more perfect collection of papers to work with than Vintage Summer Basics.

This card features paper from the Vintage Summer Basics collection, along with paper from the Antligen collection.

For the base of the card, I layered some Maja paper along with white cardstock, and a pretty white doily die-cut.

I then added a tiny glassine bag, with a handmade clay frame and pretty banner and lace layered over it. Just below the frame, is a die-cut heart border with liquid pearl accents.

I decided to add the sentiment onto a sweet little tag, and then I tucked it inside the glassine bag.

I am so happy to share my first Maja Design creation with you today, and I cannot wait until my next post!
