In our Sofa- Welcome at Marilyn’s Place

Marilyn-Rivera

Hello Maja friends!!  Today is my turn to show you my little paradise that is how I call my scrapbook room. I moved to USA eight months ago and I took the smallest room in our apartment that is near to a big tree full of beautiful birds like cardinals and many other species that are singing all day.  For that reason my desk is near to the window and I can see and listen all these beautiful creatures meanwhile I was creating my pages, it is like a paradise for me…priceless!!  My room in not a gorgeous or fancy place, it is only 10 x 10 room that is very practical and functional for me. Let’s get started with the tour…

DSC_6910Here’s how it looks from the door. To the left you see my work area (desk), the double white doors in the back is the closet.  In the right side you see my sewing machine and “Juanita” that is how I called my dress form, lol.

DSC_6914Up front you’ll see my complete work area, in the left you see my photo printer and under it a drawer where I keep my cardstocks and papers. I will tell you a secret…how much do you think I paid for this desk…?  I paid twenty five dollars for it in a Goodwill Stores…awesome! I left most of my scrapbooking furniture in Puerto Rico and I only brought a few thing. I had to buy almost everything again so I was looking for good bargains. So I was happy with this buy. In the bottom right is my baby boy “Sponky” he is a 14 year old dog..always beside me.

DSC_6915In these small drawers I organize my Liquid Pearls, Stickers, gelatos, Chalk inks, etc..

DSC_6917-copyIn the top of the desk, I have plastic jars with flowers, ribbon, laces, pearls. I also have my works and some gifts like the beautiful cards that Ingrid Gooyer and Maritza Valdez sent me from my Birthday. The things I used the most you see them on the shelf.

DSC_6918Behind the small door you will find my stencils, alphas, mesh tape, doily papers and stamps.

DSC_6920I bought this rolling organizer at Michael’s and it’s perfect for my paints, mediums and mists.

DSC_6922My hubby put hooks under the desk and I can hang my heat tool and glue in this way, which is very practical.

DSC_6930When you open the double doors that is what you find.  I design for different companies and here is where I keep all their products in plastic organizers and in white boxes. Each company has their own plastic box and I organizer by collection, embellishments, etc. I also keep here my Cricut machine and Cutttlebug.

DSC_6934This is the view from the window.  I bought this industrial sewing machine before I started to study Fashion Designer, twenty seven years ago.  The big furniture was a gift from my mom and I brought it from Puerto Rico.

DSC_6935This is the place where I keep my laces, sewing notions, stamps, different tools.

DSC_6937The drawers…one for my threads and the other for my punches.  I keep my laces in plastic boxes.

DSC_6939My die cuts, embossing folders are in this plastic containers from Dollar Tree.

DSC_6927

In this corner you will find flowers, flowers and more flowers…

DSC_6928These baskets are full only of Prima flowers and embellishments.

DSC_6929One drawer is for my buttons, other for more flowers, other for my pearls….

DSC_6940Stamps and dies

DSC_6941Metals, buttons and chipboard.   You see I have everything organized without spent a fortune.  I hope you enjoyed my scrapbook room tour…Thank you so much for your visit!!

Cute and Sweet

Marilyn Rivera-Maja Design- August2014

Happy Monday!! Marilyn’s  here with you today…. The other day I was looking in my memory box and I found this picture of my son Alexander when he was eleven months, he looks so cute and sweet that  I can’t believe my baby boy turned 20 years old two months ago…how time flies. I worked with the Vintage Autumn Basics and Walking in the Forest collections in this page.

Marilyn Rivera-Maja Design- August2014-1 Vintage Autumn Basics collection(XIII and XXII papers)

Celebrate

Hello Maja friends! It’s Andrea visiting with you today…bringing up a delightful summer card featuring Maja Design’s Vintage Summer Basics collection. I have to say that I will be very sad when summer passes…it is my favorite time of year to be outside, walk among the flowers my husband and I planted in the spring and just generally not be cold! We planted some Maiden grass in our back yard and about this time of year it gets the most spectacular plumes on it. The bad side of that means that when I see them, summer is coming to an end. And then school starts. Ahh, let’s not get ourselves depressed here! Let’s cheer up with a celebration card: AugustDivaDareMThe edges are distressed and inked, the center panel is sewed and the floral cluster consists of a paper flower, fabric leaves, wooden feathers, ceramic stamens and some distressed gauze. Quite a lot of textiles in one little arrangement! I also added some sequins in the mix for a touch of sparkle.

Thanks for tuning in with me today…enjoy your day…and the rest of the summer, you Northern Hemisphere peeps! Andrea-sign

Delighting in Outdoor Play

Delight

Hello Maja fans!  Gabrielle here with you today to share a layout I made of my little great niece playing in the dirt….sometimes it’s fun to just get dirty, isn’t it?!  I wanted to stay with some neutral colors with a hint of lavender (to bring out the sweet bow in her hair).   To create this page I mixed a variety of collections.  Here are the collections I used….

Walking-in-the-forest-PCreaDiem-P1Vintage-Springr-Basics-P1

I just love the way you can mix and match different collections. I used the following papers:

Vintage Spring Basics (1st of March), Crea Diem (Karleken Overvinner Allt), Walking in The Forest (Flannel Shirt, Fresh Air).

deligh close3

I used 2 papers from the Walking in the forest collection as my background papers and then cut the cute Daffodil designs from the Vintage Spring Basics collection to create embellishments for the page.  I recently came out with my own stamp collection and used them for the first time a this page.  For the cracked wall/brick look here, I first stamped the image on the light background paper….I then stamped the same image on the terrcotta color paper (Fresh Air) and cut out the brick section and glued in over the matching stamped area on the light paper so that it looks like cracked plaster walls with brick showing through.

delightclose1

I also used another of my stamp designs in another area of the page.  Here I did a little inking behind the photo area and used one of my cracked brick stamp designs to create a rustic look behind the photo area.

delightclose2

I used a new Dusty Attic chipboard piece called Bearded Iris and painted it with some Gesso and chalk inks to compliment the daffodil design in the Maja patterned paper.

Delightclose3

I framed another of the cute daffodil designs with another of the Dusty Attic Elegant Frames and finished the corner cluster with some blooms and glass gems.

I hope you enjoyed viewing my page today as much as I enjoyed creating it!  Thanks for stopping by! xo

Memories Like This

Hi there Maja fans! I hope you have all had a lovely happy-scrappy time since the last time we chatted over here:) To my utter dismay I realized that my post is two days late and although my layout was ready a week ago, I kept thinking and reminding myself to post on the 14th. Why the 14th?? No idea!! I wish I remembered that not all months have the same amount of weeks. That would have helped me!! Anyways, here I am with another layout of my darling daughter and her fiancee Justin. I am so blessed to have these two fabulous people in my life and you have no idea how excited I am about the upcoming wedding. It seems that it is all I can talk about lately. The last time I was here, the wedding was three months away and now there is only eight weeks left. Eight very, very busy weeks, but I am loving every minute of making all the arrangements. I am only going to do this only once in my life so I am going to make sure it is fabulous!!

Here is a little close-up of the pretty Petaloo flowers I used:

I have a really hard time deciding which Maja collection is my favorite so I tend to use a little bit of as many as I can. I just love them all!! For this layout I used the following:

All the stamping on this page was done with Kaisercraft stamps.
Till next time, lots of love and hugs to all of you!!

Smile

Hello Maja friends! We are well in the midst of summer here in the United States…my flower gardens are in full bloom, heavy with beautiful, full flowers that delight my eyes. Besides Spring, this is my most favorite time of year. Not only do I love the blooms in my yard, but I also love incorporating them into my cards. Here’s a card I made using the new Coffee in the Arbour collection: July2014DDMIn addition to these gorgeous papers, I used liquid pearls, antique lace, daisy chain lace, a doily, lots of paper distressing, a little sewing machine and hand stitching action and I colored in the Verve stamps with Copic markers. This card is indicative of what I do when I see my beloved flowers…Smile.

Have a wonderful day and thanks for visiting! Andrea-sign
