The Sweetest Thing

Hello friends!

Today I’m up on the Maja Design blog to share with you a layout I created using the gorgeous papers from the Vintage Basics collections.

Since the keyword is “vintage”, I dug out this old wedding photo of my parents. Photos from their generation generally have an orange/reddish tinge so I used a sheet from Vintage Summer for my background to match the color. But I also liked the romantic roses and memory-keeping theme from Autumn so that was how I came to mix the two collections together. Surprisingly, the lilac and peach blended beautifully. It also helped that I had bits of green as a bridging color to tie the two together.

Some close-ups:

Lots of paper layers here whose color scheme I had borrowed for the background. I had used vertical stripes to emphasize the visual line of the layers, and floral patterns for the backing for the photo to break the monotony of lines.

My balancing cluster which I had some fussy and die cut layering, as well as clock hands chipboards, keeping in with the theme of love being timeless.

My floral cluster and title with die-cut leaves sneaked in.

Another floral cluster resting on my paper layers. You can see some of the background stamping peeking through. I like to add just enough color to make my background outstanding, but yet subtle enough not to over-power the beautiful designs on the paper. I also choose my stamps to complement either the script on the paper or to emphasize the theme (floral, shapes etc).

And that’s all I have for today. Thank you for dropping by!

Couple of Fika cards

Hello dear friends! Its Evgenia Petzer with you today. In Russia we celebrate the first day of Autumn and also its a beginning of a school year at Russian schools. I personaly love autumn, I love its warm colors and the Fika collection is a perfect thing for these autumn days. Although I am not a coffe lover, i love tea and this collection brings me the sense of rich fovors of tea as well. I love making cards and while making them I also enjoy my cup of tea.

So here are my 2 cards that I made, both of them use Dusty Attic chipboard as well.

I created that little wreath from raffia myself and decorated it with matching flowers.

The chipboard I had primed with the gesso and than coloured with acrylic Dusty ATtic paints and sprinkled it with the microbeads on top, while it was still wet.

I have used the wonderful Fika collection for both of the cards:

Have a lovely day, Evgenia.

Baby boy train

Goodmorning lovelies,

Last Thursday I became a aunt again but this time to a handsome little boy {finally after having six nieces whom I adore too of course} named Lucas Julian. Until now we had the only boy in the family so for Kevin it’s great too now that he has a nephew. For the occasion I made a pretty little train using the Vintage Baby collection.20150822_150019I had such a great time making this train but I misjudged the time it would take to make. First I took out all the blue papers from the vintage baby collection and then selected which papers I was going to use. I made the train to be a piggy bank so the wagon which has his name spelled on it he can put money in. { well for now his parents need too :-) }20150822_150001I put some little sock in the locomotive so it would not be so empty. I stitched & distressed most of the edges of the papers. And of course I had to add some flowers hihihi even for a boy.20150822_145944Do you see those little pacifiers on the wagon?? When I was about 7 or 8 those things were hot in my part of the world all the little kids where wearing them around their necks and every once in a while it comes back. 20150822_145813The sheet I used for this locomotive is one of my favorites I just love those little elephants on it aren’t they just way cute? Sorry for all the sunlight but Saturday when I visited my brother, sister in law & niece it was very sunny and because it was a gift to them I had to take pictures very fast. 20150822_145821The parts of the train I didn’t put paper on I gessod. Normally I tare little pieces of paper and then stick them on there but this time the edges where to small to treat it like that. 20150822_145834Most of you who know my work know that I love to make my own flowers but for this I used prepared flowers just because I didn’t have that much time to make my own.  20150822_145841Maja Design papers used:Vintage-Baby-PThank you so much for your visit today and I do hope you like my off the page project!
