Maja Design Special Feature – Summer Guest Designers

Maja Design has an amazing group of world wide followers.  We thank you for such heart warming dedication and loyalty.

As a special “Thank You”  to the loyal followers who frequently share their work, we would like to feature a few of the wonderful artists that contribute to the Maja Design Facebook page:   Davinia Wood, Silje Kristin Aunan and Liz Marsden.

I am an English girl living in the Pilbara in Western Australia, pretty remote place! I live with my hubby and two pet hermit crabs. I started craft with wood craft and then discovered the gorgeous papers and stamps and that was it- I was hooked. I love colouring with Copics and Distress Inks. Why do I love Maja?  Well there is paper for everyone, every occasion and every season. It’s literally the most beautiful papers around. So beautiful I sometimes just want to keep them and look at them!!! They are divine. I found out about Maja through other crafty friends, I saw these beautiful papers had a look at their blogs and discovered Maja and have never looked back. I just love creating with these and part of the excitement of creating something new is playing around with these gorgeous papers!

My fave collection….oh heck hard one!…. I think it would have to be between
‘Life by the Sea’ ‘Sofiero’ and all of the Christmas papers!
You can find more of Davinia’s inspiring work on her blog here

I am Silje Kristin Aunan,  age 27,  living in Bodø; a city North
of Norway above the Polar Circle.

I started scrapbooking in November 2013. It all began with a few Christmas tags and cards in 2013 using Maja Design papers. This was and
still is therapy for me. This is my passion, and I spend almost all my spare time producing paper
projects.  As for her love of Maja papers?  Silje says,” To wait for a new collection from Maja Design, is the same as waiting for Christmas presents on Chrismas Eve, Only this is so much better. Sometimes it seems that the sheets are made perfectly for my paper projects.”

I love creating in a Vintage and Shabby Chic style and enjoy making 3D projects and special boxes.  I often challenge myself to make “impossible” paper creations.
“Nothing is impossible” is my mantra.

Silje designs for her local craft store, kaBoks, producer of dies, and stamps and a challenge blog, Nordsalten Hobbyklubb.

You can find Silje on her blog here. You’ll also soon see her in the August/September edition of the  Norwegian Craft Magazine, magazine, Ett Trykk .

Silje is absolutely enjoying our two newest collections, Vintage Baby and Summer Crush.

Here are some of here gorgeous and creative pieces using both of those collections.

I would like to thank  Maja Design for the
honour of asking me to be a guest on the Maja Design Blog, how excited am I
I have loved to create since childhood and was always to be
found colouring and  playing with paper etc.  Nothing much has changed, as I still love to colour with distress inks or copics and love to use Maja Design
papers.  They are my all time favourite and the ones I go to first, time and
time again,
My favourite style  is shabby Chic and the Maja Design
papers are perfect for this, the designs, weight, and strength of the
papers mean you can do so much with them, I love to add a little  water to
the edges of my paper to create folds for interest and they take this technique
so well, as seen on my shabby chic card,I also  love to add laces,
chipboard and anything that adds texture to my creations too,
One of my all time  favourite Maja Design collections
was the  Sofiero Limited collection, I loved the designs and colours very
much,  I tend also to use the Vintage Spring and Vintage Autumn Basics
quite a bit too, as  they adapt so easily For boys or girls creations,

A Perfect Day

Hello friends!

Have you ever fallen in love with a collection of papers so much that you just cannot keep your hands off of it? Well, I am looking at the new Summer Crush collection from Maja Design and there is this mad impulse to make loads and loads of stuff from it. I guess that’s why it’s so aptly named “Summer Crush”!

This is my third project featuring these papers and I’m focusing on the pink this round after working with the teals in the previous post. It’s remarkable how easy these two colors are to work with, either together or on their own. Here is my layout, a rare one of me and the boys at the park since I’m always the person behind the camera. It’s not often I play rough with them, especially since I’m pregnant now but you can tell that we were having a lot of fun here! More like they were having a lot of fun tickling and climbing over me….It is a pleasant reminder that it’s not a must to capture the moment, but more important to live in it.  But make sure your camera settings are right so that the husband can do the capturing instead.

Now in the collection, one of the sheets actually came exactly like the background you see here. However it was too flat for my liking so I trimmed out the centre teal portion and mounted it onto another sheet with the pink checkered design. This way, I can distress the edges of my teal paper and make it more dimensional and outstanding. I would have done some stitching as well along the edges if I wasn’t such a klutz with the sewing machine. Once again, my background mixed media work was kept close and tight to the main cluster so that it doesn’t cover up the gorgeous images Marie has drawn over the page.

If you look closely, almost everything on this page is a square of some kind. The papers I used for layering are all squares of different sizes,  my chipboard frame is square, my two main sheets of patterned paper are squares, the stamped design is square… and I even found two square buttons in my stash! Now what’s up with the squares you say? I really have no idea other than it’s fun!

Some close-ups:

I just cannot get enough of those straws! In my previous post I demonstrated how to make these cute little babies and this round I’ve used the hearts and chevrons to complement the whole mood of the layout.

Layering the patterned papers and also a die cut doily to create some additional detail in my floral cluster.

The info strip which I used as a subtitle. My background work comprises of simple stenciling, painting and creating texture with distress glitter and sand grit.

That’s all I have for today. Hope you like what I have shared!

Precious Darling

Goodmorning Maja fans,

Today it’s my turn on the blog and I would like to show you a layout of our little dog! This time I used the pretty *NEW* Summer Crush collection, I never thought I could use this collection without beach or pictures which has summer all over it but I did.20150715_084551 I started making the flowers by cutting them out with a die and by using “He gives her flowers”, “Flirty” & “Long summer nights” papers. Then I sprayed them with water and folded them into tiny balls to unfold them later on. It gives them more dimension that way and also a distressed shabby look. 20150715_08472220150715_084714The pretty chipboard I used is from Imaginarium Designs {new releases} that I got in my mailbox this morning they go so well with this collection WOW :-) I treated them with some Lindy’s embossing powders. I have to say I am in love with the new collection I have so many ideas boiled up in my mind. 20150715_08470820150715_084704For the edges of my layout I also used a die this time one from Cheery Lynn Designs with some cute little hearts in them matching the papers. For the base of my layout I took out the “Off to meet him” sheet and stamped, sprayed & paste on it. 20150715_08461020150715_084601And for some detail I added a bunch of pearls into the centers of the pasted parts and it looks so pretty it just finishes my layout even though I think it’s kind off empty lol 20150715_084556 Maja Design papers used: 10734052_10155758032160603_1301589641574848927_oThank you so much for your visit today and don’t forget to come back this Saturday for the reveal of the new mood board it’s “a great one” I can tell you, so don’t miss it 😉
